This book is a collective voice of all those who have ever loved, who have lost something that was truly their own, who needed someone at any cost but never found them, whose words were never heard, whose wounds were never healed, whose absence never frightened anyone, and whose presence or absence made no difference to the world. It is for those whose dreams were suffocated and whose doors were never knocked upon.
When there is no way left to express oneself, when there is no one willing to listen, a rebellion rises from the depths of the soul against loneliness and darkness—and that rebellion becomes poetry. I have merely tried to clothe that scream, that emptiness, in words and place it before you. I have tried to preserve the rawness of emotions and weave into this book my life’s experiences—its pain, hope, fear, anger, and the silence of closed rooms.
In the end, I only wish to say this: love with an open heart. In love, you never lose—its horizon only expands. Love never destroys you; you simply dissolve into its vastness. And if your mind is filled with “if and but,” “when,” “how,” and “why,” then believe me—you are not in love, you are in the marketplace of love. You are a consumer, not a lover.
